Fine Art Collection

Some of my favorite subjects are the weathered remnants of this pier. For years these great timbers have greeted and parted the incoming and outgoing tides. The sea’s salty caress has eroded and chipped away at these once sturdy wooden goliaths. Yet still they remain through wind, rain, storms, low, and high tides. Maybe I spend too much time observing and thinking of how these old weary wooden stakes remind me of life….or maybe I should spend more time here just enjoying the lady of the sea as she constantly caresses and quietly takes from everything she touches. When she is peaceful, she conveys such a wonderful sense of calm and harmony. And when she is furious, she brings such a sense of perspective at just how small we really are in the grand scheme of life and nature. Still, I find it most theraputic to watch aas she slowly erases the lines in the sand, cleans and heals the scars on her shores. And, brings a fresh start to everything she touches.
Maybe, I should not sip as much wine while I am photographing seascapes…lolol !!
Have a safe (and peaceful) Easter Weekend everyone.

Coastal twilight can be so peaceful. I had just finished up shooting a sunset swimwear shoot and we were walking back up the beach when we cam upon these two fisherman. the young boy disappeared in the shadow of his older brother, but his fishing pole shows sharply just below his big brother’s. Sometimes the beauty of family can simply add so gracefully to the beauty of Mother Nature and her evening colors. Luckily I still had my camera attached to my tripod so grabbing this shot was far too easy for the amount of pride I get from the capture. I know it is not perfect in it’s post production work, but the pure enjoyment of the moment is priceless!

Summer is here and shooting women’s fitness and swimwear is picking up. I shot this image for a local swimwear company and used the extremely fit and healthy Lindsay as the model for this image. And as it is summer, please be safe and used sunscreen protection! remember to hydrate (beer and alcohol don’t count). Models, when you show up for your photoshoot; do bring sunscreen, do bring cover ups, research the best makeup for your skin and for photography. Ariive on time (normally about 15 minutes early), and I always recommend using an MUA and a Hairstylist at every photoshoot. Good communication between you, the photographer, and all the photographic team makes the photoshoot fun, safe, and extremely productive! As always, stay safe out there!

Phoebe on the beach:
Have you ever looked through your view finder, and wham! you just knew it, or better yet, felt it. That you “got the shot” right there, no in depth post processing, no cropping, no anything? Nearly every shot I took in that brief quickly fading last 10 minutes of light, was just like that. Phoebe was absolutely nailing the looks, the poses, the expressions…and mother nature was casting THE most perfect light on her. I can honestly say that good communication, good karma, and good creative chemistry all came together for this shoot. All of those elements are absolutely essential to capture exactly what you and the model (or client) is looking for. In the case of personal and private portraiture, I have found that establishing trust, confidence, and adding a true element of fun greatly enhances every single session I have conducted.
