Fine Art Collection
Some of my favorite subjects are the weathered remnants of this pier. For years these great timbers have greeted and parted the incoming and outgoing tides. The sea’s salty caress has eroded and chipped away at these once sturdy wooden goliaths. Yet still they remain through wind, rain, storms, low, and high tides. Maybe I spend too much time observing and thinking of how these old weary wooden stakes remind me of life….or maybe I should spend more time here just enjoying the lady of the sea as she constantly caresses and quietly takes from everything she touches. When she is peaceful, she conveys such a wonderful sense of calm and harmony. And when she is furious, she brings such a sense of perspective at just how small we really are in the grand scheme of life and nature. Still, I find it most theraputic to watch aas she slowly erases the lines in the sand, cleans and heals the scars on her shores. And, brings a fresh start to everything she touches.
Maybe, I should not sip as much wine while I am photographing seascapes…lolol !!

Rainy Day Travel
No matter where you go or how you get there, it’s the good and the bad that make the journey worthwhile. In the words of Frankie Beverly and Maze, “Joy and pain, are like sunshine and rain”.

Vartyka shoot in Monochrome
Trying to get just a bit more of that classic vintage look, I hope this works for everyone.
Trying to grasp the concept of shooting Fashion…along with my glamour/ vintage style and still keep the session outside (where I love to be). The model (Kylie) was actually taking a break from the shoot when she naturally struck this pose (okay, I did call out to her, which is why she turned and looked at the camera). The wordrobe was on loan from a local designer (Vartyka, and I will be checking my spelling on this one), the jewelry was from another local designer, was also on loan to us for the shoot. The earrings are both hand made and is an original design (much better look at the wardrobe and jewelry both in color and in black and white on my website , via the image…just click on it to be taken to a larger view and also to my website). Combining a classic auto as a background to a classic beauty holding a classic guitar…and a classic black and white post production effect, I hope my viewers agree, is a classic combination of classic lines and curves.

Simply Chelbie…..
I had paused the photoshoot of Chelbie in order to change out lenses, after attaching my long lens to my D700 I looked up and saw this unposed scene of Chelbie. Without warning I grabbed this shot and Chelbie was kind enough to allow me to post it. I do just love those candid images, even on a planned photoshoot.
As we remember our fallen….have a safe Memorial Day.

My apologies for the digital blanket around the gem (I am NOT a photoshop artist), I hope it is not too distracting from my classy subject!

Mother’s Day Glamour photo shoot (may not be a work safe image)
Happy Mother’s Day!
I am pleased to introduce Kristeen to everyone, and yes, she is a mom! This photoshoot was a Mother’s Day present ( I rarely shoot “pro-bono” anymore). She wanted something edgy and nostalgic, and this is one (of many!) that we came up with. I will be posting some of the other images on my other blog thread later next week. I was so happy to be able to get her photoshoot finished and out to her by Mother’s Day, I hope all of you will show some love and also, be inspired to get out there! This woman had no idea she could look “like this” and was completely thrilled with the results of our work.

The Grill….
Rusty, old, classic and decaying. All terms that came to my mind when I first began to study this old rusty car grill and front end. Then, as I began to photograph, I began to wonder…what events in history had these headlights illuminated? tradgedy? joy? pain? maybe simply an open road? Had this been the front end of a moonshine runner? Artifacts and history…unknown, undiscovered, and stories we will never know. One thing remain certain, that at one time, this was state of the art, and a peice of someone’s history, pride, and joy. Now, after it’s usefulness has run it’s course, once again it is valuable, sought after, in high demand by those looking to preserve the history, restore the classics and artifacts of heritage and progress. For me it is a comforting reminder that just because we grow old, our eyes and minds may begin to fail us…but the history of our lives, the experiences we have had, the art we create, while not as spectacular or shiny as we once were, are all treasures to be enjoyed by those with whom we choose.

Just taking a walk down memory lane…
Travelling along Route 66 in Texas, I found this old restored fuel station, today as I ramble through some of my images I began reflecting. Things are not and never will be what they used to be “back in the good ole days”, so making the most of the present is really beginning to bloom in my life.
