Peaceful seas and a gentle breeze at Sunset
One of my favorite images! A huge hello and thank you to all of my several new followers, and great big thank you to all of my dear long term followers! I hope this image finds each of you safe and heppy and much hope for a safe and productive (drama free) work week!
On a side note, it has come to my attenton that several of my images are being used on other websites (business and personal). The smell of Armor All the fear that gas might actually go up to a DOLLAR a gallon?? The smell of burning rubber, the sound of Thrush and Glaspak roaring, The smell of her perfume, the excitement in her eyes when you shifted gears, the unmistakable sensation of all those wild horses under the hood…shoving you back against the seat…
I still remember how nervous I was when I picked her up for our first date…I could barely get the key back in the ignition…what do you remember? One of the reasons I go as often as I can to car shows is to talk with some of the people who remember those “good ole days”, and all the wonderful funny and sometime tragic stories they tell. And the hilarious antics that went on both at the drive in theatre…and at the local Sonic or drive in. Such a magical wonderful time in those high school days, the Friday night football games, the cruising…..

Coastal twilight can be so peaceful. I had just finished up shooting a sunset swimwear shoot and we were walking back up the beach when we cam upon these two fisherman. the young boy disappeared in the shadow of his older brother, but his fishing pole shows sharply just below his big brother’s. Sometimes the beauty of family can simply add so gracefully to the beauty of Mother Nature and her evening colors. Luckily I still had my camera attached to my tripod so grabbing this shot was far too easy for the amount of pride I get from the capture. I know it is not perfect in it’s post production work, but the pure enjoyment of the moment is priceless!

The most peaceful feeling………
I posted a similar image in my blog already, but just could not decide which on I liked best…this has the sail boat sailing away from the sun, the previous image has it sailing into it (the benefit of being at the right place at the right time I guess!). Hope this one brings even warmer feelings for everyone.

Waterfall in North Carolina
Sorry guys, not exactly sure which park this was in (whirlwind photo safari, many stops!) I was trying my hand at the “post card edit” style of editing, hope this is good enough for you guys! I can tell you there is an upper falls (with an overlook) and a lower falls (where this shot was taken) and I hiking all the way down to the plunge basin for this image. I will caution anyone who make the hikes up here…take plenty of water! It is a long way down, the change of socks came in handy, as did the trail mix and protien bars! And the hike back out is…steep! The portion of the falls visible here is about eighty feet, there are two more smaller falls about this final drop bt those remain hidden in the rocks. The river above that feeds this looks so calm and peaceful, then it drops rapidly down and makes a couple of twists before finally flowing out from this lowest level of the falls.

From the Summit of the Zugspitz, it seems you can see forever. The frozen breath, the snow covered ladder, cables and ledges…crevasses adorned in icles and snow that has yet to be touched by man…solitude, peace, and one’s perspective on life can be felt and pondered.

The sun is actually setting over Sunset Island. This image was shot from Zero Duval Street, Key West, FL, USA. The famous saying here is “Start your crawl, at Zero Duval”!
I chose to post this UN – filtered image to illustrate how we percieve life. Only minor adjustments in Adobe Lightroom. SO, we can call this Life- UN filtered. aka “it is what it is”, seeing things how they are, take nothing for granted, don’t read anything into it, here it is, take me as I am, etc..etc..
So very often in life, all of these things are true…at least to some degree. MODERATION I feel, it the key to success. Know when, how, and how much to apply…priceless!

The Grill….
Rusty, old, classic and decaying. All terms that came to my mind when I first began to study this old rusty car grill and front end. Then, as I began to photograph, I began to wonder…what events in history had these headlights illuminated? tradgedy? joy? pain? maybe simply an open road? Had this been the front end of a moonshine runner? Artifacts and history…unknown, undiscovered, and stories we will never know. One thing remain certain, that at one time, this was state of the art, and a peice of someone’s history, pride, and joy. Now, after it’s usefulness has run it’s course, once again it is valuable, sought after, in high demand by those looking to preserve the history, restore the classics and artifacts of heritage and progress. For me it is a comforting reminder that just because we grow old, our eyes and minds may begin to fail us…but the history of our lives, the experiences we have had, the art we create, while not as spectacular or shiny as we once were, are all treasures to be enjoyed by those with whom we choose.

Model Portfolio
Heather is a fitness instructor and fitness model, I had the honor of being one of her first photographers working with her on the total model concept of body, mindset, and expressions in her style of modeling. I have several more images of her (coming soon) of fashion, fitness, and swimwear modeling, so please stay tuned.
This image and others in this series were shot in Myrtle Beach, SC , we began our session at sunrise. White balance can and does constantly change during those first few minutes as the sun rises above the horizon. However, one of the hardest challenges I fasted during this style of shooting was the slow shutter speeds required for low ISO settings. The VR lens is extremely used for helping the photographer keep the image steady but it does nothing to keep the subject’s movements frozen. Also in this image, if you look very closely you can see that since I was using a wide open aperture of 2.8 on a 70-200 VR lens at about 180mm, Whilw trying to cover all the bases..lighting, pose, expression, angle, point of view, framing, iso, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, fill light, etc…I allowed my concentration on the focusing point to alter, resulting in my focusing point to land on the model’s right cheek instead of her right eye. With such a wide open aperture, the left side of her face in “soft” instead of being tach sharp. Lesson learned! I now use an assistant on all my model shoots now.
