So tell me, do YOU remember??
The smell of Armor All  the fear that gas might actually go up to a DOLLAR a gallon?? The smell of burning rubber, the sound of Thrush and Glaspak roaring, The smell of her perfume, the excitement in her eyes when you shifted gears, the  unmistakable sensation of all those wild horses under the hood…shoving you back against the seat…
I still remember how nervous I was when I picked her up for our first date…I could barely get the key back in the ignition…what do you remember? One of the reasons I go as often as I can to car shows is to talk with some of the people who remember those “good ole days”, and all the wonderful funny and sometime tragic stories they tell. And the hilarious antics that went on both at the drive in theatre…and at the local Sonic or drive in. Such a magical wonderful time in those high school days, the Friday night football games, the cruising…..

Got a favorite memory, story, or thought? Shout it out, would love to hear from you!

Classic Curves and Lines

Combining a classic auto as a background to a classic beauty holding a classic guitar…and a classic black and white post production effect, I hope my viewers agree, is a classic combination of classic lines and curves.

Location: Myrtle Beach, SC, USA
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR lens, a single SB900 fired through a shoot through umbrella (model right) and a soft silver reflector (model left).

24 cents a gallon….remember when?
There I was just driving along a back road when there it was, an old gas station with an original gas pump still in it’s place, and the per gallon price was frozen at 24 cents per gallon. I have the color version available on my website as well.

Location: Rural South Carolina
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lens, ISO 100, f/8, 1/60th

Color or black and white? I could not decide, so I will be posting both of them. There was just too much debris (late model cars and parts) around this old classic. My apologies for the digital blanket around the gem (I am NOT a photoshop artist), I hope it is not too distracting from my classy subject!

Location: Rural South Carolina Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lens, Induro CT213 tripod, Induro BHD2 ballhead.

Mother’s Day Glamour photo shoot (may not be a work safe image)

Happy Mother’s Day!
I am pleased to introduce Kristeen to everyone, and yes, she is a mom! This photoshoot was a Mother’s Day present ( I rarely shoot “pro-bono” anymore). She wanted something edgy and nostalgic, and this is one (of many!) that we came up with. I will be posting some of the other images on my other blog thread later next week. I was so happy to be able to get her photoshoot finished and out to her by Mother’s Day, I hope all of you will show some love and also, be inspired to get out there! This woman had no idea she could look “like this” and was completely thrilled with the results of our work.

Model/ subject: Kristeena
Location: Little River, SC, USA
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR lens, Nikon SB900 flash, shoot through umbrella, soft silver 42″ reflector.

The Grill….

Rusty, old, classic and decaying. All terms that came to my mind when I first began to study this old rusty car grill and front end. Then, as I began to photograph, I began to wonder…what events in history had these headlights illuminated? tradgedy? joy? pain? maybe simply an open road? Had this been the front end of a moonshine runner? Artifacts and history…unknown, undiscovered, and stories we will never know. One thing remain certain, that at one time, this was state of the art, and a peice of someone’s history, pride, and joy. Now, after it’s usefulness has run it’s course, once again it is valuable, sought after, in high demand by those looking to preserve the history, restore the classics and artifacts of heritage and progress. For me it is a comforting reminder that just because we grow old, our eyes and minds may begin to fail us…but the history of our lives, the experiences we have had, the art we create, while not as spectacular or shiny as we once were, are all treasures to be enjoyed by those with whom we choose.
