Or, Beauty in Nature. This is an image of a good friend of mine (not a model, but works in skin care). She is Native American and wanted to create images of personality and handiwork. It took about two hours to capture this image. We waited first for the winds to calm down and the insects to relax and stop making ripples in the lake. The we had to wait for a rain shower to pass. Eventually, I got about waist deep in the pond and brought the camera just over the top of the water. As if it was meant to be, the winds calmed, insects and aquatic life became still, and I fired off three click of the shutter.
I have been asked to consider writing a “how to” book on the creation of some of my images. Just out of curiosity, I may give it a go. I am considering not only going in to detail about camera setting, lighting, and location information as well as going into more detail about communication with the models in regards to image creation, collaboration on wardrobe, style, settings, posing, etc. I feel I would probably bore people to death, but I have been asked several times, now so I am thinking maybe I should just go for it. Any comments or ideas would as always, be greatly appreciated! Until next time, stay safe and Happy Holidays to all! You can view the image in HiRes HERE
Wow, it has been a LONG time since I have posted! So, a brief update for all my friends and followers, I have FINALLY completed my military service and I officially retired in July of 2012. I went right in to being a full time college student and completed my BFA in Photographic Imaging at the Art Institute of Charleston, SC. After completing my degree I returned home to bask in the glow of ease of retirement. After a lifetime of high adrenalin lifestyle and travel, simply setting at home, sipping coffee, learning to cook (a more refined meal , not just learning how to operate a digital microwave, lol!), daily yard work, listening to music, and of course, taking photographs; I have been accepted into the Masters Degree program for Creative Writing (fiction). So once again, at 53, it’s “back to school” to chase down another childhood dream of becoming a writer. So this post is three fold, I am posting to let you guys know what I am up to and that I am still kicking! And, to send a shout out to anyone and everyone who can help me in research and ideas for creative writing. I have many character to create, plots to devise, environments to create, and ladies…while I feel I can write in the male point of view, I would deeply appreciate each and every one of you who can assist me in the female perspective. And finally, to any of my author friends out there (fiction, non fiction, poets, etc…) Please send me a shout if I may lean on you for support, assistance, tips, tricks, collaboration, etc.
I plan to still post images here but please be aware that I hope to use this blog for creative free-writing, daily writing practice, and also as a medium to test out ideas, concepts, character ideas, etc. You have all been amazingly supportive of my photography (over 2 million hits on my website!) So please continue your support, encouragement, and above all else…Happy Holidays! Stay Safe! And let someone know how much they mean to you!
