Attempting to use a classic lighting technique with the perculiar lighting style of photographer Horst P. Horst. Obviously I have a ways to go before i arrive at his level! But I do feel I have captured the essence of what I was after in this shot (lighting style wise). This was my first attempt so be looking out for a much more expanded upon version of this style of image and lighting technique.

Many thanks to RaeAnn (my lil Texas Tornado) for her help in creating this image.

Location: Charleston, SC (Studio work)
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 50mm lens, Induro CT213 tripod, Induro BHD2 ballhead, one monolight camera right.

  1. Oh my — I want this! How on earth did you do it? And the shadow — the lighting is awesome… this was not appreciated by your instructor… so don’t understand. Magnificent! x RL
