The Gate and Walkway
This is the walkway of a private boat dock in Shem Creek, and area in Mt Pleasant, SC, USA just across the bridge from Charleston, SC, USA.
A path represents a lot of different things in our lives, as does the gate. For me, a paths show several things; one being the way we came. how we arrived at where we are now, all the good choices and bad choices, all recorded along the way. All the values and morals we have developed, discarded, re-assesed, and tweaked. The gate can serve several purposes; to keep unwated traffic out, lock you in, allow you to pass, or even make you wait for the approriate time to act or move along your new path..or, retreat back down the way you came. The path itself is elevated above the pitfalls and dangers below it, and branches out offering you more than one avenue of egress or ingress. But at its very best, it still remains, a path. It is up to you to choose where you will go, when, and how far. And as for me…when my special someone walks the path with me, at the right time of day, with glass of wine and time to relax and enjoy where we have been, where we are at, and where we are going…Sometimes, wow…I might need to close the gate for a lil while (wink!)
