This young woman wanted to do a portrait session showing her softer side and bringing the out her personality. She is also a waitress and serves as a voluteer firefighter. She felt that showing her softer side while in her bunker gear would bring out the female sexiness, her toughness, and the part of her that cares deeply for her fellow human beings. I hope you like and appreciate her for taking this bold step forward in expressing herself with class, confidence, and character.

Location: South Carolina, USA
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR lens, off camera Nikon SB900 strobe and a shoot through umbrella. Lighting is camera left at about 6′ from subject.

  5. I certainly do appreciate this. Fact is, many women do fantasize about appearing glamorous and sexy in fine art photography but many are criticized for it with impunioty in the end. What also often happens is that many tend to regret posing this way later in life whether the shoot was their idea or that of the photographer. It takes a lot for many women to get the nerve to execute work like this and endure the disrespect that more often than not follows.

I’m not a firefighter but I have an idea of what they do, the risks they take, sacrifices they make and the midset that they must have in order to get the job done. It’s because I understand and respect this; plus the fact that I’m also a fine art photographer, is why I do see the “softer, sexier” side of this woman who I don’t know, and appreciate what she has done.

Very nice composition; both of you.

    • Thanks a million my friend! I have found (and hope it remains just as true..), that the confidence the woman has in her photographer, herself, and her trust in exactly what will be made public and what will remain private..all have a tremendous impact on her ability to reveal those amazing sides of her personality. Criticism happens no matter what a person does, the fact is: that one must DO something, to be critisized. Those who do nothing have nothing…to be criticised for! So for me, I applaud each and every woman for being brave enough, bold enough, daring enough, and even playful enough to be herself and let my camera capture every single sexy, playful, amazing one of them. I also know that it hold true…that for every finger pointed at you…there remains four others pointing back at the one who is critisizing……
Thank you so much for your comments, thoughts and ideas, and I hope we are able to have a positive impact for anyone looking to capture those sexy, incredible, and timeless images. Happy shooting and please return often.
