Landscapes and Seascapes

Dawn's Early LightDawn’s Early Light
Somtimes, you just have to be there. Steaming hot coffee in hand, peace, quiet, the sounds of the surf calming the freyed ends of your nerves. The colors of of the pre dawn light change, dance, and play in the reflections of the sea, in the tidal pools on the sand, and in the playground of your mind. Each one of us is different, and for each of us the sea has it’s own meaning, it’s own beauty, it’s own sanctuary for our souls. They say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder; I feel it is also in the hearts and minds of the beholden. The display before me happened without calculation for weather, tempertures with humidity, tidal calcuations…it just happened. And I was fortunate enough, to just be there.

Location: Myrtle Beach, SC USA
Equipement used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 85 1.8 prime lens, open heart, open mind, hot coffee, and patience.

    • Thanks Dave, had to lower the contrast as the light was so low, the shadows created by the waves really detracted from the appeal of the image. While our eyes see in several stops of light, the camera is very limited. Thanks for noticing!

    • Many Thanks! I believe it was a combination of having a very LARGE cup of coffee, and being totally amazed simply watching those colors shift and blend!

      April 22, 2012 at 5:32 pm

      • And the nature played along with you too… 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever seen colors like that, are you sure it wasn’t a Martian sunrise? 🙂

  9. The colors are magical indeed. Given that the bird is so close to the edge of the frame, have you been tempted to move it or eliminate it?

    • Thanks for the comment Steve! And yes, I was briefly tempted to remove the bird. However, I decided that just like fleeting moments in life, it is better to have captured it, than to not have captured it at all. While moving or eliminating would be better to serve for sales appeal, currently I am enjoying the benefit of having good sales in wall art as it is (lucky I know!), I will be moving rapidly into the fine art aspects and deliviering image that are much more refined for this purpose in the future. Great question! Thanks!
