Landscapes and Seascapes
The magical world of monochrome….devoid of color, brings out the truth in texture and emotion. As I awoke on a cold winter day, i found myself scrambling to gather my photography gear (and a cup of fresh HOT coffee!), then out on the upper deck of our cabin to capture this image of a new snowfall during this winter storm. The storm lasted all day, and provided some much needed bonding time with my lovely wife. The smell of fresh brewed coffee, the sound of the fire snapping and roaring in the fireplace, and plenty of time for simply talking and touching each other. Yes my friends, for me, this was a Perfect winter day! Walking out on the deck, it air was brittle cold, you could hear the muffled “whumps” of snow falling from the branches, and the sound of the snow packing down under your feet as you walk. Absolute silence filled the air, except for the sound of the wind as is blew through the trees. As evening fell and the sky darkened, I remember looking back into the house, the room painted with the glow of the fireplace and the candle lights. Truly one of our best evenings ever in Gatlinburg, TN.
Equipment used: Nikon D700, Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lens, Induro CT213 ballhead, and post processing with TOPAZ LABS Black and white Effects.
